Summary

The Inner Wellbeing & Spirituality Associate promotes the inner wellbeing and spiritual wellbeing of Assisted Living and Independent Living residents, families, volunteers, and staff, honoring all faith traditions and none. This position includes planning and leadership in weekly worship and collaborating with the director at other department events.

Essential Job Duties

  • Actively delivers care for inner wellbeing and spirituality as a supportive, caring presence and companion through individual and group involvement.
  • Collaborates with the Director to ensure that all requests for emotional and spiritual support are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Works with the department Director to provide Holy Day services for Jewish and Christian traditions.
  • Works with the department Director to provide AL Remembrance Services and combined AL/IL Remembrance Services throughout the year for residents who have died.
  • Plans and leads weekly worship.
  • Coordinates and hosts the Episcopal team and priest for monthly worship.
  • Leads and coordinates regular group meetings and gatherings, adhering to department established group guidelines,
  • Collaborates with the Assisted living Life Enrichment Director and department Director to provide groups or activities in AL to meet the inner wellbeing and spiritual needs of the residents.
  • Monitors and records attendance for all group events and individual (1:1) visits to measure key performance indicator (KPI) metrics.
  • Regularly participate in education and vocational training, especially as required by Horizon House.
  • Participates in programs and administrative activities as required by the organization, including staff meetings, training, and programs.

Non-Essential Job Duties

  • Completes other duties and projects as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

  • Assists and respects all residents and staff, regardless of faith, in meeting their inner wellbeing and spiritual needs.
  • Ability to work respectfully with residents, staff, and other individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be patient, tolerant, understanding, caring, and interested in the residents, family members, volunteers, and staff.
  • Maintains professional credentials through regular professional development activities as required by employee’s denominational faith community/conference.

Essential Experience/Knowledge/Education/Specialized Training

  • Must be an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ.
  • Must be eligible for standing in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Church of Christ.
  • A minimum of three years' experience working in geriatrics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a person of faith who is experienced, approachable and welcoming.
