As a Floater at Happy MaryAnn, you will serve as a versatile and adaptable team member, providing support and assistance wherever needed to ensure the smooth operation of our program. Your flexibility and willingness to step in and help with various tasks and responsibilities will be invaluable in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children and staff.

Responsibilities:
Assist with the supervision and care of children across different age groups and classrooms, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Support Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers in implementing age-appropriate activities, routines, and educational experiences that promote children's development in all areas.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment by assisting with cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing materials, toys, and learning centers.
Assist with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup tasks in the kitchen, following food safety guidelines and portioning requirements.
Cover breaks and provide additional support during transitions, meal times, nap times, and other periods of high activity or need throughout the day.
Support children's social and emotional development by modeling positive behavior, offering encouragement, and providing comfort and guidance as needed.
Foster positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues, communicating openly and respectfully and promoting a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
Assist with administrative tasks, such as record-keeping, documentation, and communication with parents/guardians, under the direction of program leadership.
Collaborate with other staff members to ensure compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and program policies and procedures.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in early childhood education and childcare best practices.
Maintain flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs and dynamics of the childcare program, including willingness to work in different classrooms or areas as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant coursework in early childhood education is a plus.
  • Previous experience working in a daycare or educational setting with young children.
  • Understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Language requirement: Fluent in Spanish and English.
        Any additional relevant certifications in early childhood education would be advantageous.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $18 - $21 per hour, commensurate with experience.
 

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
 

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Flushing, NY, 11354: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
 

Work Location: In person
