Shipping & Receiving Specialist

Key Job Responsibilities:

Receive, inspect, and ensure accuracy and quality of incoming shipments.

  • Process shipments in the system, generate necessary documentation and track/report all incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all shipping and receiving materials, and assist in cycle counting, researching, and resolving inventory discrepancies.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers and troubleshoot any issues in the shipping and receiving process.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks timely and assist in training new team members in shipping and receiving processes.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve shipping and receiving processes and logistic functions, including maintenance, supply, and transportation plans.
  • Organize warehouse space for efficient receipt of inbound shipments and communicate with forwarders for delivery schedules to support operations.
  • Alert management of potential deviations to established processes and adhere to company’s EHS standards and 5S policy.
  • Coordinate delivery and shipment of products, sort materials, identify discrepancies in warehouse goods, and load and unload delivery trucks/containers.
  • Match purchase orders to sales orders, prepare and ensure completeness and integrity of outgoing shipments.
  • Compile inventory records, shipment reports, and maintain cleanliness and organization in the warehouse.
  • Perform facility maintenance according to the service plan and follow all safety codes.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in an applicable field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in warehouse operations, particularly in receiving, shipping, warehouse management, planning, and material handling equipment operation and inspection.
  • Experience in operating a forklift and knowledge of basic warehouse procedures and safety policies.
  • Proficient in using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP systems, and logistics inventory management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities, deliver results on time, and design/implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and multi-tasking skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and resilience under pressure, including willingness to work long or flexible hours when necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel in order to stock shelves and move merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions:

  • Mainly indoors in the manufacturing plant.
  • Lift in excess of 40 lbs frequently.
  • Operate forklift frequently.
  • Stand or walk majority of the time.
  • Stress level high due to multiple demands frequently occurring simultaneously.
  • Work near moving machinery.
  • Temperature fluctuations occur.
