Job Details:

  • Salary Range: $17-19/hour
  • Monday-Friday
  • 8:30 am- 5 pm
  • On-call (1 weekend every 5 weeks)

Job Summary:

The Porter will perform work involved in the upkeep of residential and commercial buildings and grounds ensuring a clean, neat, and well-maintained environment in a safe manner that meets company standards. This role involves using cleaning chemicals to maintain equipment and other supplies while dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning restrooms and common areas. They will also perform minor maintenance, and landscaping tasks. Porters work with the property management team to assist with other general duties concerning properties as directed. The porter works with their POD (property management team) to achieve the highest level of customer service and perform other general duties concerning the property as directed.


Essential Functions:

  • Cleaning Interior and Exterior of the Building to include, but not limited to; Common Areas, Entrance Ways, Lobbies, Hallways, Lounges, Gyms, Mail Rooms, Elevators, Compactor Rooms, Windows, Doors, Floors, Dog Waste Stations, and Parking Lots.
  • General Landscaping (mowing, weed trimming/removal, de-ice and snow removal).
  • Removing garbage from common areas and moving trash bins.
  • Maintenance of common and resident areas, by touching up paint when needed, changing light bulbs, maintaining exit sign lights, changing air filters, and other minor repairs
  • Maintaining the supplies for use of all of the cleaning and maintenance outlined above, ensuring that all are stored and kept clean and neatly organized
  • Provides Access and Support to Third Party Vendors when needed

Supervisory responsibilities:

Work Environment:

  • Rental properties/apartments - sometimes vacant/sometimes tenant-occupied
  • Apartment complex common areas
  • Commercial properties
  • Often exposed to weather due to maintenance of interior and exterior of dwellings
  • Office setting occasionally

Physical demands:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking, kneeling, crawling, climbing and balancing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times/100 pounds team lift occasionally.
  • Must be able to carry tools and equipment up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and balance on scaffolding
  • Must be able to traverse a variety of properties in a variety of weather.
Requirements:

Travel required:

  • Driving a vehicle to and from various rental properties daily.

On-call:

  • Expect to be on-call on weekend every 5 weeks
  • $75 stipend in addition to overtime pay for on-call work (overtime is paid after 40 hrs)

Required education and experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license along with a dependable vehicle and clean driving record. MUST BE ABLE TO PASS AN MVR CHECK.
  • Ability to follow directions and propensity to learn.
  • Must have your own tools for the job (basic hand tools required).
  • Must be able to use basic hand tools as well as power tools.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English for business purposes.

Preferred education and experience:

  • Previous job experience: Property Maintenance, Contractors, Construction Workers, Hotel Maintenance etc.
  • At least two years of related experience is preferred.

Additional eligibility requirements:

  • Dependable vehicle required with up-to-date insurance, inspection and registration is required
  • Must have a smartphone and complete daily work tickets via mobile device
  • Must have your own personal hand tools for the job (basic hand tools required)
