Congressional School seeks part-time Lifeguards for their Aquatic Center. As a lifeguard you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons in and around the aquatic facility. Your primary duties will involve monitoring swimming areas, enforcing pool rules, providing emergency response, application of pool chemicals and maintenance, and offering first aid as needed. Your vigilance, quick decision-making, and commitment to safety are crucial to maintaining a secure and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Surveillance and Safety:

- Continuously monitor swimming areas to detect and prevent potential hazards.

- Enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment for all patrons.

- Recognize and respond to potential drowning or distress situations promptly.

  1. Emergency Response:

- Provide immediate response to emergencies, including administering first aid and performing CPR.

- Utilize emergency equipment, such as rescue tubes, first aid kits, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs), effectively.

- Coordinate with emergency services as needed during critical incidents.

  1. Maintenance and Cleanliness:

- Conduct regular inspections of pool areas and equipment to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.

- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.

  1. Customer Service:

- Greet and assist patrons with a friendly and professional demeanor.

- Address and resolve customer inquiries or concerns related to pool rules or safety.

- Provide information about pool facilities, programs, and services.

  1. Record-Keeping and Reporting:

- Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and safety drills.

- Complete daily log sheets and shift reports as required.

  1. Training and Drills:

- Participate in regular training sessions and safety drills to keep skills and certifications up to date.

- Stay informed about the latest lifeguard techniques, safety practices, and emergency procedures.

Qualifications:

Certification: Valid Lifeguard certification from a recognized organization (e.g., American Red Cross, YMCA) including CPR/AED and First Aid certification.

Experience: Previous lifeguard experience preferred but not required.

Skills: Strong swimming skills, physical fitness, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patrons and team members.

Attention to Detail: Keen observation skills and a proactive approach to ensuring safety and addressing potential risks.
