Summary: The GIS Analyst is responsible for supporting the company’s GIS databases, software, systems, and processes. Additionally, they are responsible for supporting the execution of projects and creation of geospatial deliverables. The role supports all departments and all offices with GIS databases, software, and routines.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for accurately creating, maintaining, and appending spatial data in a multiuser database environment
  • Perform routine SDE audits, resolve common data conflicts
  • Work closely with other departments to provide SDE editing guidance and support
  • Use ArcGIS to create accurate information produces e.g. custom maps, exhibits, reports, and electronic data deliverables.
  • Use data automation tools and techniques which help ensure data integrity and efficiency
  • Research and procure data from federal, state, and local entities
  • Assist with documenting GIS procedures and standards
  • Assist with identifying system functions and procedures where improved methods are possible
  • Assist in the development of GIS databases and workflows
  • Assist with the design and development of advanced data models
  • Assist in the creation, execution, and maintenance of automated GIS workflows
  • Assist with publishing web services, maps, and applications via Portal for ArcGIS
  • Participate in pre-task planning
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Competencies:

  • Intermediate knowledge of technical application, concepts, principals, and theories in GIS.
  • Intermediate understanding of coordinate systems, projections, datums, and geoid models.
  • Intermediate experience with database design, creation, and management.
  • Intermediate understanding of GPS concepts and technology.
  • Intermediate proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Suite.
  • Intermediate proficiency with ArcSDE.
  • Fundamental awareness of ESRI Portal / ArcGIS Online
  • Novice proficiency with ETL Tools (Model Builder, FME, etc.)
  • Novice proficiency with ESRI Spatial Analyst & 3D Analyst extension.
  • Novice proficiency with web mapping applications.
  • Novice proficiency scripting and automation of GIS processes.
  • Intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fundamental awareness of AutoCAD software operations and file formats.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work on multiple dynamic projects concurrently.

  • Experience with Arc Server is a plus.
  • PLSS and general survey practices a plus.
  • Oil & Gas industry is a plus.
  • Electrical or renewable energy industry is a plus.

Required Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited College or University in Geography, Planning, Natural Resources, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Three plus years’ of demonstrated experience managing geospatial data and project work.
  • Demonstrated experience of managing, designing relational databases.
  • Energy, infrastructure, and/or mining industry experience are preferred.

Other Need-to-know items:

  • Working remote is acceptable. 
  • Travel may be required on occasion for team meetings, client meetings, and business development events, but is anticipated to be less than ~10% of the time involved with the role.
  • Weekend and/or night work may be required from time to time to avoid database or website maintenance during production hours.
