Berman & Simmons is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our personal injury group, specializing in complex cases and catastrophic injury.

The Litigation Paralegal will help manage civil litigation cases from intake to jury verdict. Experience from backgrounds including social service agencies with case management, trauma-informed professionals, nurse case managers, or law enforcement investigation would be helpful in this specialized position.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Meeting with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Drafting legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
  • Researching and analyzing statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; providing written analysis to attorneys.
  • Interviewing clients and witnesses and preparing summaries of their statements.
  • Preparing, organizing, storing, and retrieving case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
  • Assisting attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.

  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters is helpful but not required.

This position is full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in the Lewiston office.
