Our client is seeking a Metrology Manager that will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Metrology team - to maintain the quality of instruments and inspection routines including the maintenance, qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives. Supervise the team to ensure compliance with processes and procedures to reduce risks and improve compliance and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the metrology schedule to ensure timely maintenance and calibration of instruments.
  • Lead and supervise the Metrology team to maintain high standards of instrument quality, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, asset management, and laboratory facilities equipment upkeep.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and develop inspection routines. Maintain documentation.
  • Coordinate cross functionally to schedule equipment downtime, minimizing impact on business operations.
  • Ensure direct reports are adequately trained and up-to-date with their roles.
  • Develop strategies to control costs, mitigate risks, and enhance productivity.
  • Write and execute Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), Performance Qualification (PQ), and validation protocols for new equipment, software upgrades, and equipment relocation.
  • Review and approve critical documents such as investigations, work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), risk assessments, and deviations.
  • Work with Operations and Facilities Management to maintain and enhance laboratory facilities.
  • Coordinate with vendors/suppliers to ensure effective communication and implementation of instrument needs.
  • Provide ongoing support for equipment, instruments, and facilities to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Research and recommend new instrumentation to improve compliance and efficiency.
  • Maintain metrics for instrument repair history and response times.
  • Assist in and participate in internal and external audits.
  • Provide budgeting information for new instruments, service agreements, and other related expenditures.
  • Stay current with new technologies and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Adhere to all regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions, and safety rules.
  • Exhibit regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in metrology or a related field. At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with measurement systems.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and understanding Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with relevant software and systems.
