Job Summary: Shipping Clerk
This position is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming shipments. Their duties include organizing inventory for easy retrieval as new orders come in, reviewing incoming and outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations and documenting damages to inventory.
Duties/Responsibilities:
An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Obtain and process product orders, including receiving deliveries, registering them and distributing packages and letters within the company
Schedule shipments and plan logistics to ensure that there is sufficient storage space for incoming items and staff on hand to manage the shipments
Keep files of goods shipped and received by preparing regular shipping and receiving reports for managers
Handle issues arising in shipping or inventory handling
Ensure adherence to environmental management and systems
Trouble shoots shipping issues and customer complaints that arise and work to solve them
Other duties as required and assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Google Docs/Sheets, Excel
Integrity and leadership skills
Exemplary customer care skills
Detail-oriented and multitasking skills
Ability to operate warehouse machinery such as forklifts
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency
Minimum 1 year related experience and/or training
Ability to write reports, business correspondence
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer inside office.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
