The Controller Position
The Controller leads and manages finance and accounting operations for Merlo Construction, ensuring that accurate and valuable financial data is readily available. The Controller balances a complex understanding of accounting practices, team management and financial planning and analysis.
Collaboration with staff is key to ensuring P&L and WIP reports are monitored in real time and provide accurate data. Key responsibilities include preparation of financial reports, managing banking relationships, and closing out financials appropriately. The Controller position offers the opportunity to be both hands-on and collaborative in the implementation of new processes, while living up to Merlos Value Statement of What got us here, wont get us there
Experience, Skills, and Abilities of the Controller
- Bachelors degree in accounting, business administration, or related field
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience is required
- Specialty subcontractor construction experience is preferred
- Strong desire to actively contribute to a continuous improvement environment
- Prior experience with ComputerEase is preferred
- CPA designation is preferred, but not required
Compensation, Benefit & Structure for the Controller:
Merlo Construction offers a competitive base salary for the Controller, based on skills, abilities, and experience. In addition, the Company provides a comprehensive and generous benefits package, a generous 401K matching program, paid time off, growth opportunities, and a team-based work environment. The position is based in our Milford, MI office.
