Animal Care of Davis County is currently hiring for a full-time Veterinary Technician in Fruit Heights, Utah. This position provides medical care and treatment and ensures the general welfare of animals at the Davis County Animal Shelter. Follow us on Social Media

This position's work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

$18.44 - $23.47/hr

*Salary based on qualifications and related work experience.

Requirements

Must possess a current Utah Veterinary Technician License or three (3) years of work experience as a non credentialed veterinary assistant. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Preference for work experience working with animals in a kennel or shelter.

Day to Day Duties

  • Performs daily health evaluations and scheduled treatments for shelter animals.
  • Prepares animals for surgery; induces and monitors anesthesia. Assists with surgery and necropsies
  • Helps address animal behavioral needs or concerns.
  • Performs animal dental prophylaxis and evaluation.
  • Responds to emergency situations, administers triage care.
  • Prepares laboratory samples and evaluates in-house lab work.
  • Assists Veterinarian with daily shelter veterinary rounds, assists in the care and treatment of animals in the foster program.
