The Crisis Center for South Suburbia is a non-profit community organization that provides emergency shelter and other essential services for individuals and families victimized by domestic violence and addresses the societal issues that contribute to domestic violence.

Today, the Crisis Center for South Suburbia operates a 54-bed emergency shelter and has an annual impact on the lives of more than 10,000 people. With a staff of more than 85 employees and a budget of over seven million dollars, the Crisis Center continues to grow while offering free services to Chicagos south suburban communities.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Warehouse Responsibilities:
  1. Gratefully receive donations during open hours of clothing, housewares, and furniture.
  2. Document and inventory the incoming items and provide donors with receipts for their contributions.
  3. Provide excellent customer service and be a linking person with donors.
  4. Serve as liaison between donors and the agency and ensure that all donors feel like difference-makers during the donation pick up process.
  5. Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices including safe lifting and moving techniques, storing donations and product, and loss prevention.
  6. Sort all incoming donations separating items into saleable goods for the stores, client needs and discards, including recycling.
  7. Prepare warehouse times for transport to their delivery locations and/or organize items into storage following agency standards.
  8. Uses hand truck and operates forklift when needed to move goods and materials around the donation center and/or moves materials within the warehouse as needed.
  9. Assists Pickup & Delivery Merchandising Associates with unloading of deliveries to the warehouse.
  10. Ensures that pickup goods are clearly marked for associates so they can efficiently adhere to the daily routing plan.
  11. Completes the necessary forms, monthly reports and accurate inventory of all items processed through the warehouse.
  12. Maintain neatness, cleanliness and organization of donation receiving area/stocking/rotation of merchandise. Including trash removal, breaking down of boxes.
  13. Works cooperatively with other Crisis Center employees, volunteers, clients, and the public.
  14. Maintains a professional and courteous attitude at all times, willing to be flexible and assume new job responsibilities, as needed.
Facility and Custodial Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for daily tidying and stocking of restrooms, kitchens, and other common areas at the 8151 building.
  2. Responsible for weekly deep cleaning of restrooms, kitchens, and other common areas at the 8151 building. This includes sweeping and mopping floors.
  3. Responsible for weekly trash removal, and vacuuming at the 8151 building.
  4. Follow all safety and quality standards.
  5. Responsible for maintaining our supply of janitorial supplies including reorders and organizing the inventory.
  6. Other duties as assigned
