Job DescriptionJob Description

Career Counselor needed to work in Columbia with travel to Audrain, Cooper and Howard counties. The counselor provides career coaching, family support services, and case management to help lift people out of poverty. Assist individuals who receive food stamps to gain skills, training, and work experience using a strengths-based whole family approach. Assist with developing goals by assessing career training pathways and preparing for employment (writing resumes, job applications, and mock interviews); address barriers and support the family. Promote the program through recruitment, meetings, and community events. Pay is $17 / hour.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have general knowledge of family development and social services. Previous work experience as a case manager or social worker is helpful.
  • Willingness to become certified with a Family Development Credential (FDC) during the first 2 years of employment (paid by employer).
  • Prefer related college degree.
  • Prefer experience working with low-income families.
