VP of Tax

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Tax to lead our tax department and ensure compliance with all tax regulations while identifying opportunities for tax optimization and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and expertise in income tax, motor fuel tax, sales tax, property tax, and unclaimed property reporting.

**Responsibilities:**

1. Lead all aspects of tax planning and compliance, including income tax, motor fuel tax, sales tax, property tax, and unclaimed property reporting. Determine resource needs and evaluate the appropriate split between external vs. internal preparation and consultation.

2. Identify accretive planning opportunities on an ongoing basis to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax benefits.

3. Proactively communicate relevant significant tax matters to senior management and actively participate in strategic decision-making processes.

4. Coordinate tax planning with the compliance calendar to ensure timely incorporation of all tax deadlines and availability of needed resources.

5. Personally supervise quarterly and annual interaction and calculation of individual shareholder estimated payments, corporate distributions, and compliance.

6. Review tax provisions as needed to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax regulations.

7. Collaborate closely with various accounting groups to improve efficiencies between accounting and tax functions.

8. Research appropriate tax positions in relation to new accounting pronouncements and provide guidance and recommendations on tax-related matters.

9. Periodically review policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.

10. Work closely with directors to manage staff and processes, ensuring timely compliance for all Federal and state tax reporting requirements.

11. Manage and/or supervise tax projects with outside consultants while striving to perform various tax projects in-house whenever practical.

**Qualifications:**

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree or CPA preferred.

2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax management, with a focus on income tax, sales tax, property tax, and compliance.

3. Strong understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements.

4. Proven track record of strategic tax planning and optimization.

5. Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with senior management and external stakeholders.

6. Strong leadership and team management abilities.

7. Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

8. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
