Total Rehab LLC is searching for an organized, reliable certified Medical Assistant for its interventional pain management medical practice in Utica, New York. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position. The MA will be cross-trained to cover various administrative and clinical tasks within a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, professional and capable of managing their workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:

  • Assist with front office duties: greeting patients, answering phones, verifying insurance
  • Assist with scheduling and/or re-scheduling patient appointments
  • Assist with obtaining applicable authorizations
  • Assemble patient charts, requisitions and consent forms
  • Update and file medical records and insurance reports
  • Assist with the collection and preparation of laboratory specimens, including completion of appropriate paperwork, as permitted by NYS law
  • Assist practitioners during routine office visits, outpatient procedures and other physical exams
  • Prep exam rooms for clinical procedures and assisting practitioners with patient care
  • Monitor and document patient symptoms for practitioners’ review during clinical exams and procedures
  • Provide compassionate patient support and care, attention and assistance during office visits
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the company

  • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with co-workers, physicians and patients
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to handle stressful and unpredictable situations
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously
  • Proficient computer skills, with knowledge of electronic medical record systems
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

Qualification:

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required
  • Medical Assistant Certification required
  • Medical office experience and terminology preferred
  • Prior experience as a procedure technician preferred
  • Ability to type a minimum of 50 wpm
