Job Title: Instructor Coordinator

Reports to: Youth Service Manager

Position Classification: Full Time/ Exempt

Primary Objective: As an integral member of Central States SER’s dynamic and growing team, the Instructor Coordinator will coordinate activities and program implementation with the youth coordinator and manager. They serve to support as the primary DHS contact for this contract. The main responsibility will be to recruit participants and develop and implement a photography and videography curriculum. Additional responsibilities include coordination of enrichment activities, service delivery documentation, participant attendance, progress, and case management as required. Staff will work with key partners to improve outcomes of Chicago’s Opportunity Youth (OY) or 16-24 year-olds who are out of school and out of work.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead the project to create safe spaces for youth to congregate, participate in enrichment activities, and obtain vocational training.
  • Responsible for administering programming in the late afternoons where youth can engage in vocational training focused on photography and videography.
  • Provide consistent supervision of participants and instruct them in using a digital single Lens camera, Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, along with Davinci Resolve.
  • Schedule ongoing and regular activities such as homework/tutoring assistance; enrichment; arts, cultural enrichment, and social and emotional learning.
  • Support the Youth Services Manager in executing ongoing work, including coordination of meetings, events, and community presentations.
  • Actively engage, develop, and cultivate relationships with youth service providers, including practitioners in the workforce, education, faith, nonprofit, philanthropic, and civic sectors.
  • Work closely with SER staff to create and implement clear and timely communication strategies for various partners, including members, public institutions, education, and non-profit partners.
  • Secure and manage an ecosystem of appropriate partners to deliver quality soft skills and industry- specific skills training.
  • Involve appropriate company resources throughout the program cycle.
  • Record various forms of information utilizing case management system, digital communication tools and other data referral tracking system that connects clients with community resources and identifies tracked referral partners, build and modify service information profiles for tracked referral partners, onboard and train tracked referral partners, and assist with workflow scoping.
  • Manage agreed-upon action plans to ensure the timely completion of all tasks, and propose adjustments to the timeline if needed.
  • Help youth participants navigate community resources.
  • Follow up with youth regarding referrals, appointments, interviews, and events.
  • Ensure fulfillment of all requests for grant reporting requirements related to this project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and needed to support this initiative.

All Encompassing SER Youth Programs:

  • Works with the youth staff to coordinate services for youth.
  • Presenting a positive image.
  • Excellent personal appearance.
  • Connects participants with different resources in the community.
  • Refer the client to internal and external community services or resources.
  • Understand all program and funding sources available to customers so that the use of resources is maximized via dual enrollment where appropriate.
  • Assist in publicizing job openings, including addressing civic and social groups, and disseminating information concerning possible job openings and career opportunities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action guidelines and laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act. (ADA)
  • Consult with managerial or supervisory personnel.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required with at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the scope, requirements, deliverables, timeline, and resource needs of complex, multi-stakeholder projects. Knowledge of project management fundamentals and experience managing projects are essential.
  • Strong meeting facilitation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective communicator with multiple audiences, including community-based organizations, foundations, researchers, and educators. Must be able to communicate technical information to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills.
  • Good organizational skills and high attention to detail are required.
  • Strong sense of emotional intelligence.
  • Familiarity with collective impact and non-profit sector preferred.
  • Knowledge of workforce development systems in Chicago preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Be self-motivated, able to take the initiative, and have a positive personality.
  • Strong computer proficiency including: experience with databases, Excel, Word Access, Internet, E-mail, and other Microsoft programs.
  • Ability to learn and apply Federal and State policies related to a particular program area knowledge of local community resources preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Must have a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and adequate auto liability insurance. Must be able to travel as needed.
