Senior Accountant

Arnold Magnetic Technologies is a leading global manufacturer of high-performance permanent magnets, flexible composites, electromagnets, magnetic assemblies, and precision thin metal foils. Arnold's magnets, metals, and systems are used in high-efficiency electric motors and generators, sensors, batteries and more.

Working with and reporting to the Operational Controller for the Marengo Campus, the Senior Accountant is responsible for recording timely entries, providing accurate reporting, and analysis of financial information. All work requires the application of established accounting principles, practices and procedures and complies with GAAP.

Typical Duties/Activities/Responsibilities:

Month end close and financial statement preparation:

• Prepare monthly journal entries and corresponding reconciliations such as prepaids and accrued expenses
• Maintain capital expenditure records and fixed asset reporting.
• Calculate monthly reserves for excess and obsolete inventory, net realizable value, and overhead in inventory analysis
• Variance analysis of key general ledger accounts
• Preparation of Sales and Use Tax filings

Auxiliary functions:

• Oversee accounts payable, process vouchers as needed
• Post daily invoices, prepare sales reports with margin analysis
• Generate and post cycle counts of inventory
• Support customer collection efforts
• Support requests from internal and external audits
• Make suggestions to improve internal controls and process efficiencies
• Ad hoc reports and additional responsibilities as required

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to translate complex data for non-financial audiences.
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel including, but not limited to V look up, and pivot tables.
• Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Able to proactively question and challenge to prioritize and identify solutions in timely manner.
• Solid interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business partner relationships at all levels of the organization.
• Must be able to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and organize workload to meet organizational timelines in a fast paced, high growth environment.

Education and Experience:

• BA/BS degree in Finance/Accounting or Business;
• At least 3 years of experience in accounting / finance
• Experience with Actual Cost system and Foundry and/or job shop environment a plus
• Experience with Syteline ERP and multilocation/multinational corporate structure a plus
