TITLE: Custodian Substitute

PAY TYPE: Salaried-Non-exempt

RETIREMENT: None

CONTRACT- None

WORK YEAR: As Needed

REPORTS TO: Principal, Assistant Principals, Head Custodian and Director of Operation

QUALIFICATIONS: Education - standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of any General Education Development (GED) Testing Program

General - Must be physically able to operate heavy-duty floor scrubbing and rug shampooing equipment, to lift/move heavy objects, and to work from ladders with due regard to safety. Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions, to work well with others, to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively.

One year of custodial experience preferred. Ability to respond to emergency calls

during off-duty hours preferred. State of Georgia motor vehicle license

preferred.

GOAL: To provide students and school personnel with a safe, attractive, and

clean environment.

PERFORMANCE 1. Sweep; mop; scrub and apply finish to floors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

2. Dust, and clean classrooms, offices, and other areas as designated.

3. Wash windows inside and outside.

4. Wash walls.

5. Clean restrooms and replenish supplies.

6. Move office equipment and furniture for thorough cleaning.

7. Clean and polish metal hardware.

8. Report damaged structures and equipment.

9. Operate various mechanical, electrical and battery-operated

machines to aid in performing the above tasks.

10. Make minor repairs to custodial equipment as needed, such as

vacuum bag replacement, etc.

11. Perform minor maintenance tasks such as bulb replacements, etc.

12. Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate

and/or credential as may be required for this position.

13. Follow work schedule and attendance requirements in a regular,

predictable and punctual manner, demonstrating prompt and regular

attendance as well as the ability to adapt to an extended/flexible

work schedule.

14. Participate in training programs as required to increase skills and

proficiency related to assignment.

15. Ensure adherence to good and appropriate safety procedures.

16. Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies and

administrative directives.

17. Perform other duties as assigned.
