The Specimen Processor is responsible for receiving client packages, opening samples and logging patient and order information into the Electronic Lab Requisition (ELR) system. Duties will include ensuring accurate data is entered in the system, airbill and tracking information is recorded properly, and samples are documented for follow up on invalid or missing information. He or she will also ensure accurate billing information is recorded for orders and ensure all documentation received with samples is properly maintained with sample records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Foster open communication between the laboratory, client, and Aegis internal teams
  • Open client packages and ensure samples are appropriately tied to the airbill
  • Open delivered lab specimens verifying sample identity and testing requirements are met
  • Utilize Electronic Lab Requisition (ELR) for sample submissions while ensuring accurate demographic, insurance and testing request entry
  • Scan and attach all sample documentation inside the Electronic Lab Requisition (ELR) system.
  • Document any invalid or missing information during sample receipt.
  • Complete and maintain required Compliance Training
  • Comply with all applicable safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of Aegis testing services
  • Encompass a “can do” attitude and represent Aegis in a professional, positive manner

Successful Candidates Must Possess:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on quality and extreme confidentiality
  • Experience in the medical field is preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills are essential to success in this role
  • Positive approach and attitude in patient interactions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work on multiple tasks without sacrificing quality, attention to detail, and ability to interact with staff at all levels is required
  • Basic computer knowledge including, but not limited to:
    • Ability to send, receive, and monitor emails
    • Basic understanding of web site navigation including URL and how to enter website addresses
    • Ability to maintain and enter usernames/password and understand why credentials are important
    • Basic understanding of ports on a computer (USB for signature pad, printers)
    • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute
    • Experience and understanding of Windows operating system
    • Knowledge of how to save or delete files and folders
    • Understanding necessity of security measures

Schedule:

  • Tuesday - Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
