  • EHS teams are comprised of three distinct disciplines that support our EHS Management System and processes at project sites and offices.
  • These teams include environmental scientists, safety professionals, and industrial hygiene scientists.
  • Collectively, they provide technical guidance and perform planning, risk assessment, inspections and monitoring, training, and data management.
Position Summary:
  • The EHS Trainer helps develop and execute the training and awareness component of an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program.
  • Key activities involve development of training plans and courses, preparation of training materials, recordkeeping, teaching and coaching, and execution of awareness campaigns to enhance EHS performance and leadership.
  • The position involves practical application of teaching methods to promote knowledge and participation within a diverse workforce.
  • The position reports to the Project Training Lead or Project EHS Manager.
Responsibilities:
  • Develops and coordinates EHS learning, multi-lingual training, and awareness activities to enhance understanding and implementation of the EHS program.
  • Helps prepare and implement the project Training Plan, inclusive of EHS orientation and other standard and specialized EHS courses that relate to a project's scope of work and client's EHS standards (core processes).
  • Works with subject matter experts within the EHS team and other functions to develop or review multi-lingual course materials and awareness strategies.
  • Uses a composite of classroom and instructor-led courses, hands-on training (e.g., hazard school), posters, brochures, banners, bulletin boards, supervisor meetings, toolbox talks, handouts, and pre-task meetings to promote knowledge and awareness of all three EHS disciplines.
  • Promotes and applies the EHS Management System to achieve continual improvement.
  • Uses cost-effective methods for printing, artwork preparation, and copying of computer design artwork and layouts.
  • May use third-party vendors to provide course materials and translation services, as required and approved.
  • Maintains and updates the project EHS website, forms, and other methods of web-based technology.
  • Maintains a record of best practices as part of knowledge sharing within the project and company.
  • Helps establish and maintain an EHS recognition program for employees.
  • Helps develop, promote, and implement EHS initiatives and awareness campaigns.
  • Updates training materials based on events, compliance requirements, and changed conditions.
  • Assists other EHS team members in program execution across all three EHS disciplines.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university or college related to EHS disciplines with 2 to 4 years of relevant technical and teaching experience; or an Associate degree related to EHS with 9 or more years of relevant technical and teaching experience.
  • Training skills and knowledge applicable to EHS disciplines.
  • Prior work experience involving development and implementation of training programs.
  • Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report preparation.
  • Adaptable to work in a training facility and outdoors in a field environment.
  • Ability to support various work shifts, as needed.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated interest, training, and experience in applied sciences and workplace training.
  • Previous experience with EHS technical and administrative subjects.
  • Broad technical knowledge, science skills and technical writing and teaching abilities.
  • Excellent multi-ligual (Spanish and English) oral and written communication skills and diverse training methods preferred.
