Purpose

The Technical Director’s primary responsibility is to champion the technical and production elements for Chapel Pointe (audio, lighting, media, online and video broadcast). The ideal candidate will have the ability to build and lead the volunteer and staff Production Team, and is continuously seeking ways to make the weekend and other ministry event experiences outstanding. The Technical Director is responsible for implementing CP vision and values for the Production Team meaning the staff and volunteers must be spiritually prepared in addition to technically prepared for their role in worship and events. 


Expectations

  • TECHNICAL SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT
      • Oversee proper operation and maintenance of audio, lighting, media and video broadcast equipment church wide (multi-site)
      • Maintain an organized and inventoried backstage, front of house, and all related equipment  
      • Identify and propose solutions to solve technical problems and support ministry objectives as well as improve overall experience
      • Stay proficient on all technical and production equipment
  • WEEKEND EXPERIENCE
      • Lead and execute the technical and production requirements for weekend services and key events
      • Includes weekly rehearsals, and any applicable set-ups/teardowns patching and preparations
      • Serve as technical producer during worship rehearsals and weekend services, leading all key areas of production
      • Partner with Communications and Worship teams to help create and equip the weekend experience
  • LEAD THE PRODUCTION TEAM
    • Lead the team and cultivate an attitude of ownership and responsibility, which must be first demonstrated by the Technical Director. Positive, humble, cooperative, and willing attitudes are imperative.
    • Lead and manage the production staff team providing regular oversight, accountability, growth opportunities, and training
      • Establish and maintain goals and performance tracking for the production staff
    • Manage the production budget
    • Build and lead a team of volunteers to serve as the Production Team
      • Guide with excellence toward the goal of creating an inviting and distraction-free worship environment
      • Help the team members understand their role on the team and encourage them to work through challenges
      • Provide regular training opportunities for all campus technical volunteers
      • Foster a healthy culture of growth, continuous improvement, and development—maintain a “how can we do this better?” atmosphere
    • Recruit and schedule operators and service producers for weekend services
    • Maintain timeliness and schedules, presence, accountability, dress code, and appearance


  • EVENTS & CAMPUS
      • Lead the technical and production requirements for events on each campus 
      • Responsible for the technical success of ministry events and on-campus production needs
  • SUPPORT SET DESIGN
      • Support stage design and the execution of any stage design, in conjunction with Worship Pastor/Worship and Communications teams
  • IT SUPPORT
    • Be the liaison between the managed services provider and Chapel Point as it relates to the managed network
    • Champion the technology at all campuses and utilize IT staff to assist in providing level 1 technical support. (TV’s, laptops, iPads, computers, projectors, LED walls, etc.)
    • Manage the IT budget

Qualifications

  • Effective communicator, motivator, team builder and equipper with a pastoral heart.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; 
  • Minimum 5 years of technical direction experience preferably in a ministry setting.
  • Flexibility with schedule to accommodate special events and to facilitate volunteer service opportunities
  • Well-rounded proficiency in all required technical and production equipment
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • High-capacity, multi-tasking, and comfortable working independently without constant supervision
  • Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage calendar of events, task list, and own work schedule without supervision
  • Ability to perform job requirements in high-energy and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly
