Summary The Onsite Technician for must be familiar with the installation of cable, and general cable / infrastructure maintenance.


Essential duties and responsibilities:

Installation of cable, and general cable / infrastructure maintenance.

- Walk up to 2 miles a day

- Crawl under desk and move small furniture

- Carry / climb ladder

- Work in small confined areas

Install cables and testing.

Establishes service by studying equipment requirements; researching documentation, ordering and gathering components and parts; completing installation; performing acceptance tests.

Maintains rapport with customers by discussing issues; providing technical support; identifying solutions; suggesting improved methods and techniques; recommending system improvements.

Possess hand and finger dexterity and good eyesight with the ability to determine colors.

Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

Other Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Inside Wiring, T-1's, DDM-1000, Fiber Cable, Battery Plants

Installation & Service Experience Must Include “Turn Key Installs”, Connectivity and Testing.

Must be able to Pass NYC Department of Corrections Security Background Check

Must be comfortable in a prison environment

Education and/or Experience

H.S. Diploma or Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
