Position Summary:

Provide full scope of pediatric services in a primary care setting, including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, and health maintenance to pediatric patients.


Education/ Experience: Completion of a master's, post-master's, or doctorate from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) with emphasis on the NP's specialty area and have current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or grandfathered through an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with national accreditation.


Key Qualifications:

  • Adherence to practice guidelines submitted to the Vermont Nursing Board
  • Licensed/license eligible to practice in Vermont
  • Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP)
  • Minimum of (2) years of experience working as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, preferred
  • Strong knowledge of pediatric healthcare guidelines and best practices
  • Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Have a record that is free from current Medicare/Medicaid sanctions and not be listed on either the OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities or System for Awards Management (SAM)
  • Possess a current, valid, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number if applicable
  • Insurability (malpractice)

Other Requirements: Proficient computer skills required. Experience working with an electronic health record preferred

  • Minimum requirement of BLS required
Requirements:

Essential Functions Of The Position:

  • Provides patient care by interviewing, examining and treating clinic and hospital patients in order to meet their medical needs.
  • Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families.
  • Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral, and/or consultation appointments based on examination and patient needs.
  • Prescribes medical treatment and medications to patients.
  • Ensures patient controlled-substance contracts are completed for all patients being prescribed controlled substances, monitors use of medication and documents all results.
  • Checks Vermont Prescription Monitoring System (VPMS) when appropriate.
  • Orders studies, test and ancillary services.
  • Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
  • Practices in a primary care setting at GCFH.
  • Uses the electronic health record to document patient care and completes records according to Grace Cottage policy.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information according GC policy and federal/state guidelines and regulations.
  • Is overseen by physicians as required by GC Policy and federal/state regulations.
  • May serve as a preceptor to Nurse Practitioner or other appropriate students per federal and state regulations.
  • Adheres to Grace Cottage Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Standards of Behavior, policies and procedures, and Granted Privileges.
  • Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by Grace Cottage.
  • Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients.
  • Attends regular Medical Staff and provider meetings.
  • May participates in the development, implementation, and review of procedures/policies and annual program evaluation.
  • Completes annual education, certification and/or license requirements.
