POSITION SUMMARY:

Instructs water exercise classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member

wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the Group Exercise Coordinator, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
  2. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  3. Keeps accurate class attendance records.
  4. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
Requirements:

  1. Must be a minimum of 16yrs of age, 18 for senior classes
  2. CPR, First Aid, and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certification
  3. I strongly recommend the YMCA Water Fitness Instructor and YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistant or equivalent.
  4. Must demonstrate the ability to put together a water fitness program.
  5. At least one year of experience teaching water fitness classes preferred.
