Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Fixed-Wing Chief Pilot to join their team in Boston, MA. As a leader in critical care transport, our client is dedicated to delivering the highest level of patient care. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing flight operations and ensuring compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe operation of fixed-wing aircraft and maintain professional standards for all crew members.
  • Screen and select fixed-wing personnel, conduct performance appraisals, and provide feedback and coaching to pilots.
  • Coordinate and conduct the orientation and training of new pilot staff in compliance with the company's training program manual.
  • Manage and coordinate pilot initial and recurrent training through an approved flight training vendor.
  • Maintain aviation personnel's FAA required records, including proficiency records, training schedules, and correspondence.
  • Oversee FAA drug and alcohol training for aviation staff and ensure compliance with record maintenance.
  • Assist with the development of aviation operational policies and ensure regulatory documentation is current.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Aviation Operations to ensure aircraft are properly equipped for operations.
  • Maintain safety culture and prioritize safety in all aviation operations.
  • Participate in meetings and interact with the FAA during inspections and documentation approvals.

Qualifications:

  • Meet the requirements of FAR part 119 and Part 135 to hold the Chief Pilot's position on an FAA Air Carrier Certificate.
  • Preferably have one year of management experience in a medical transport service or equivalent management experience.
  • Three years of experience as a Part 135 PIC (Pilot in Command).
  • Have a minimum of 3000 hours of aviation experience as a PIC, 1000 hours of turbine engine time, and 100 hours of actual instrument time.
  • Maintain the credentials to be a PIC, VFR and IFR in fixed-wing aircraft type under the company's Air Carrier Certificate.
  • Hold an Airline Transport Pilot certification (ATP), and preferably have a bachelor's degree.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks.
  • Good decision-making and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and the ability to develop aviation training curriculums.
  • Comfortable speaking in public and delivering presentations.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate aircraft and handle non-conventional motion, noise, vibration, jet fumes, and extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds using proper body mechanics.
  • Able to work in a patient care environment on the aircraft, following infectious disease policies and protocols.
  • May require sitting for long periods of time in an aircraft cockpit or office environment.
  • Able to pass a Class I Flight Physical and have no physical restrictions wearing the company uniform.

  • Background and CORI checks will be performed prior to employment.
  • Completion of PRIA records check, pre-employment physical, and drug/alcohol screen is required.
  • Must pass random drug and alcohol screenings in accordance with Part 120 of the Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
