About the Role

The Temporary QA Engineer reports to the Director of Software Product Development & QA and will work with both the Hardware Engineering and Software teams to test both hardware and software on Bellwether’s current product.  

 This job requires 100% onsite presence at Bellwether’s Berkeley Headquarters. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for testing both the hardware and software components of new features on our coffee roaster
  • Test roast quality and reliability of the new roasters
  • Burn-in testing for roasters handed over to QA from manufacturing
  • Perform manual regression testing as bugs are resolved
  • Identify, triage, document, and track bugs including steps-­to-­reproduce to guide development team.
  • Review requirements specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Time estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, hardware and support teams

  • Analytical powers - you're able to break down problems into bite sized chunks, deconstruct and reverse-engineer issues
  • Amazing attention to detail, without losing focus on higher level goals
  • High-level of curiosity, eager to learn and growth mindset with focus on improving quality
  • Familiar with web technology and containerization technology like docker


Work Environment

  • Fast moving, dynamic startup with an open office concept
  • Requires prolonged standing in front of roasters to perform the hardware and software testing
