As a Yard Jockey, you will be responsible for maneuvering and positioning trailers within our yard and dock areas. Your primary objective will be to efficiently and safely move trailers to their designated loading and unloading areas, ensuring timely delivery and pickup of goods. You will collaborate closely with our warehouse and transportation teams to coordinate the movement of trailers, maintaining accurate records and adhering to established safety protocols.
What You Will Do:
  • Operate yard jockey trucks to safely and efficiently move trailers within the yard and dock areas.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and transportation teams to prioritize the movement of trailers and ensure on-time delivery and pickup.
  • Inspect and report any damages, defects, or malfunctions of trailers to the maintenance department.
  • Maintain accurate records of trailer movement, including trailer numbers, arrival and departure times, and any relevant notes or issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on yard jockey trucks, such as fueling, checking oil levels, and inspecting tires.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe driving practices.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized yard, ensuring trailers are properly parked and aligned.
  • Communicate effectively with the warehouse and transportation teams, providing updates on trailer movements and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate with the loading and unloading teams to facilitate the efficient flow of goods in and out of trailers.

What You Need:
  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience operating yard jockey trucks or similar equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to trailer movement and truck operations.
  • Excellent driving skills with the ability to maneuver trailers in tight spaces.
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with various teams and convey information accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform the required tasks, including bending, lifting, and climbing in and out of trucks.
Requirements include:
  • Previous tobacco experience a plus but not required.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and lift to 10 pounds.
  • Teamwork, Coordination, Dependability.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
