JOB SUMMARY:

The Social Work Intern is responsible for working with departments at SEEC to assist with program implementation and case management as it relates to their social work curriculum and the current needs of the agency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant must be pursuing a Master of Social Work degree. The position demands strong verbal and written communication skills and requires the application to be competent with using various forms of technology (Microsoft Office, Zoom, etc.). Applicant should be open-minded and have a desire to provide services to vulnerable populations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Opportunities to work with individual clients:
    • Help with case management, including organizing yearly or as needed meetings with individuals and service coordinators.
    • Intern Direct Support Professional work – work with staff and people they support onsite; support Project SEARCH interns at their internship sites.
    • Work with our Maps & Paths group in the facilitation and develop of an individual’s life plan.
    • Opportunities to work with groups:
    • Educational groups curriculum development and group facilitation.
    • Advocacy group development and facilitation.
    • Assist in developing skills in staff members of the agency to support the agencies life planning initiative for the people supported
    • Opportunities to work with families:
    • Facilitating annual and as needed meetings between families and service coordinators.
  • Opportunities for community organization assignments:
    • Outreach to communities to create opportunities for the people we support.
    • Working with our Director of Collaboration to develop partnerships in the community.
    • Work with our Knowledge Management department in grant management.
    • Conduct needs assessment for our different communities so that the people we support have opportunities to be active in their communities.
  • Opportunities to participate in research assignments:
    • Work with Knowledge Management on various research grants.
    • Strategic operations research.
    • Conduct a needs assessment within the organization and develop a research project.
  • Other unique learning experiences for students:
    • Professional development opportunities.
    • Database administration.
    • Program development.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work station will be from home and/or the office. When at office, work station will be in an open environment. Ability to bend for filing purposes.
