Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:

  • Community Health Services: WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Migrant Seasonal Head Start, and Child Development Center.
  • Clinical Health Services: Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services.
  • Supportive Health Services: Family Stabilization, a Teen Outreach Program, SOAR, Youth Leadership Program, Youth Shelter and Housing Assistance Programs.

Maintenance Assistant

Full-time, Monday-Friday 8AM to 4:30PM, No Weekends

Job Title: Maintenance Assistant

Reports to: Grounds and Facilities Coordinator

Areas of Responsibility: Responsible for grounds maintenance and participate in minor facility repairs under the guidance of supervisor or tech.

Major Duties:

  1. Apply general knowledge of landscaping, various yard equipment, and tree care to upkeep for buildings and grounds.
  2. Maintain sprinkler systems under direction of supervisor.
  3. Maintain lawn equipment.
  4. Maintains building, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring and other related maintenance activities.
  5. Complete regular maintenance jobs as assigned.
  6. Clean snow and debris from sidewalks.
  7. Collaborate with janitorial personnel by reporting maintenance needs, providing follow-up, etc.
  8. Assist with building and moving furniture, unloading and storing supplies.
  9. Communicate appropriately and positively with employees, contractors, and the public.
  10. Work flexible hours.
  11. Attend meetings and trainings as required.

  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Outside work in extreme temperatures.
  • Noise level often above average.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb, bend, and squat.
  • Physically able to perform duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

Grade: 11

  1. High school diploma/GED.
  2. Ability to work independently.
  3. Have valid driver’s license with good driving record.

Grade 12

  1. Meets minimum qualifications above.
  2. Minimum of one years’ experience in lawn care/maintenance, plumbing, electrical, or general construction or facilities upkeep.

Grade 13

  1. Meets minimum qualifications above.
  2. Minimum of three years’ experience in lawn care/maintenance, plumbing, electrical or general construction or facilities upkeep.
