We are seeking a rigorous, investigative Senior Scientific Editor with excellent communication skills to join the Drug Hunter team to cover case studies in Small Molecule Drug Discovery. You will be responsible for writing, editing, commissioning, and producing content that analyzes scientific and commercial developments in drug discovery and provides our readers with insights and updates on relevant problems and solutions for their work. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
The successful candidate will maintain a high level of scientific knowledge and industry understanding. Regular interaction with industry scientists and leaders is expected as is eagerness to learn about new scientific areas, developments, and trends. This role reports to the Scientific Director and is a full-time, fully remote position based in the United States.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of scientific data, focusing on publications, patents, presentations, and clinical trial results to contribute to articles on drug discovery topics
- Prepare comprehensive articles and reports that detail drug discovery efforts or related developments, ensuring clarity and coherence in presentation
- Produce high-quality content with a focus on accuracy and detail, requiring minimal edits before publication
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments and breakthroughs in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery to produce high-quality content
Additional Duties:
- Perform other related tasks as necessary to support the ongoing needs of the content team and associated functions
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with fluency in English
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative, startup environment, working with colleagues and collaborators across disciplines, and tackling novel challenges
- Maintenance of a high level of scientific knowledge and industry understanding is expected
- Digitally native, comfortable with social media, software, and new technologies and platforms, and eager to apply new best practices to a growing organization
Education and Experience:
- A Ph.D. (or equivalent) in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or chemical biology
- At least 4 years of experience focused on medicinal chemistry and small molecule drug discovery; strong preference is given to candidates with experience from biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
