POSITION SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Process Engineer analyzes, reviews, and approves process engineering policies, documentation, and operations. This position will develop and implement strategies to increase quality and customization of processes and oversee data collection, analysis, and other research for continuous improvement projects.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in and support the principles of Great Game of Business and Open Book Management
  • Evaluate processes for warehousing and processing lines based on quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed
  • Study production and machine requirements
  • Develop and test effective automated and manual systems
  • Design and install equipment
  • Organize and manage workflows and resources
  • Integrate disparate systems (e.g. equipment handling, transport)
  • Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations and network performance
  • Resolve issues and delays in production
  • Find ways to reduce costs and maximize quality
  • Train staff in new and existing processes
  • Collaborate with other employee owners, contractors and suppliers
  • Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations
  • Upgrade systems and processes with new technology
  • Follow approved work instructions

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed mostly in a controlled atmosphere. Some exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. This employee will be required to demonstrate continued knowledge of Haz/Com regulations and requirements. The Warehouse Process Engineer will be required to sit 75% of the work day, stand 10% of the work day, and walk 15% of the work day. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds is required. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear. . All employees are required to follow safety standards, adhere to Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Knowledge of mechanical and manufacturing facility layouts
  • PREFERRED: Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or a related field
  • PREFERRED: 2-3 years’ experience with Auto-CAD, with inventor
  • PREFERRED: Lean/Six Sigma Experience

  • Operations & Quality Monitoring: Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance, as needed.
  • Project Management: Managing projects from conception to implementation including developing a timeline, creating and executing phases, creating, allocating, and managing budgetary items, communicating and collaborating with other employees, and troubleshooting issues. Business savvy, with the ability to see how the project is tied to the organization’s overarching business goals.
  • Organization: Highly organized, detail oriented, effective time management, and multi-task and prioritization skills
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Judgement & Decision Making: Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Technology: Solid computer proficiency with an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office & Windows based programs, utilizing Auto-CAD
  • Communication: People-friendly, with excellent oral and written communication as appropriate for the needs of the audience, including presentation and analytical skills
