Position Summary

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the organization’s human resources area. The position organizes, manages and executes all aspects of the benefits, wage and salary, compensation, employment, talent management, and employee relations functions. The position also provides input into organizational policies and procedures for employee related needs as well as adherence to regulatory requirements.

Position Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention. Formulates strategic plans for new programs.
  • Analyze internal and external trends and make decisions on program or service viability.
  • Develops and implements departmental budget. Responsible for HR program financial oversight and budget.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve data monitoring and analysis processes for the organization. Develop actionable, proactive metrics and reports that drive strategic insights and support larger organizational initiatives.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; creates, reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management or appropriate discipline or in absence of a degree seven years related experience required.

Experience Requirements

5+ years’ experience in a human resources supervisory position

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to improve employee morale.

Comprehensive understanding of local, state and federal employment laws

Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills

Excellent communication skills both written and oral: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of organization.

Analytical skills including ability to prepare financial and/or statistical analysis reports.

PC literacy including: HRIS systems familiarity, and Microsoft Applications

Thorough knowledge of human resource-related issues. Basic understanding and ability to interpret and apply Federal/State employment laws.

Ability to create and maintain a diverse workforce.

Desired Qualifications

Strong understanding of HR software (ADP) preferred.

PHR or SPHR Certification preferred.
