Restaurant High Performing Teams, (RHPT), are groups of Family Members who share a common vision, goal, and approach to work. They collaborate, challenge, and hold each other accountable to deliver the Whataburger experience to each other and our customers using the six Restaurant High Performing Team Characteristics; Coaching, Communication, Engagement, Empowerment, Recruiting, and Rewards and Recognition.
Restaurant Team Leader: How you bring value
At Whataburger, our Team Leaders deliver the Whataburger experience to both our Family Members and customers. They foster a High Performing Team environment by coaching during shifts, creating a safe space for communication, and engaging and understanding Family Members specific work needs. Team Leaders ensure that Whataburger operating procedures are being followed to drive operational excellence. Team Leaders report to the Operating Partner. Team Leaders support Operating Partners and Managers in managing the restaurant with a variety of tasks such as food safety and sanitation, consistency of standards, and training and supervision of Team Members.
REQUIREMENTS: Typical minimum requirements to perform the job.
AGE:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
- Six (6) months experience as a Team Member
- Attainment of Team Member skills certification
- Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and inspire Team Members
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and maintain an effective working relationship with management and co-workers
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Strong general knowledge of the organization and its functions
- Strong general knowledge of working practices, procedures, and techniques
- Food Safety Certification (may vary based on city, county, and state requirements)
- Food Handlers Certification
- Must be able to report to work in a timely manner as required by operational/business needs
- Must be able to work a full-time schedule and be able to work all shifts based on the operational needs of the restaurant
- Must be able to work overtime if required based on the operational needs of the restaurant
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to stand during the entire shift. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, lift, shake, stir, pour, carry, and push
- Must be able to read (orders on tickets, menu board, receipts, etc.)
- Frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, cleaning and sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood, and produce items
- Frequent washing of hands
- Must be able to use computers, telephones, and office equipment
