Desired Shift: Days - 8 HR: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM

On Call Requirements:

  • One day a week Monday through Thursday from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  • Every 5th weekend: Friday 11:00 PM - Monday 6:00 AM
  • One reduced operation or holiday per contract

Interview Times: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM ET and 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM ET. Please ensure availability for the interview during these times.

Job Summary

The Anesthesia Technician will work within the Surgery Unit . providing essential support for anesthesia services. The role requires extensive experience in large/acute care hospital settings with a strong background in handling heart cases. The technician will be responsible for preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment, assisting anesthesiologists, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during surgical procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with Anesthesia Procedures: Set up and maintain anesthesia equipment, prepare medications, and support the anesthesia team during surgical procedures.
  • Heart Case Experience: Provide technical support for heart-related procedures, demonstrating experience and knowledge in managing complex cardiac cases.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all anesthesia equipment is in proper working condition, perform routine checks, and report any malfunctions or issues.
  • Patient Care: Monitor patient vitals, provide patient support, and ensure patient safety throughout the surgical process.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all procedures, patient interactions, and equipment usage in the electronic medical record system.
  • Compliance: Adhere to hospital protocols, safety standards, and infection control procedures.
  • On-Call Duties: Be available for on-call shifts as scheduled, including nighttime and weekend coverage.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other medical staff to deliver high-quality patient care.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician in a large or acute care hospital setting.
  • Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in operating anesthesia equipment and assisting with heart cases. Strong understanding of anesthesia protocols and emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Heart Cases Experience: Proven experience with heart-related surgical procedures.
  • Education: Certification or formal training in anesthesia technology is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting: Able to lift a minimum of 5 lbs.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs.
  • Standing: Able to stand for a minimum of 2 hours per day.
  • Physical Stamina: Capable of performing job duties during long shifts, including on-call hours.
Languages
  • English: Speak, read, and write proficiently.
Education and Licensure
  • Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Education: Formal training or certification in Anesthesia Technology.
Additional Information
  • Travel Requirements: This is a traveling position; candidates must be willing to relocate or commute to Gastonia, NC for the duration of the assignment.
  • Proximity: A reasonable proximity to the office is necessary, as employees may be required to report to the Boston office with little or no notice.
