Job Title: Athletic Manager/Physical Education Teacher


Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to fill the role of Athletic Manger/Physical Education Teacher. This position involves a combination of responsibilities related to managing athletic programs and teaching physical education in an educational setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for both sports management and promoting physical fitness and well-being among students.


Responsibilities:

  1. Athletic Program Management:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive athletic programs that align with the school’s mission and goals.

  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of athletic events, including scheduling, logistics and facilities management.

  • Collaborate with coaching staff to ensure effective team management, training programs, and athlete development. Coordinates and maintains inventory for all sports and supports the needs and implementation of all school athletic events.

  • Monitors attendance and academic progress of all athletes and prepares squad lists to verify student-athlete eligibility.

  • Assists in the recruiting, hiring, and annual evaluation of all coaches, including full-time APS employees and lay/seasonal coaches.

  • Supervises and monitors students and supports student retention strategies.

  • Maintains a current athletic handbook listing detailed policies, procedures, and practices for both students and employees.

  1. Budgeting and Resource Management:

  • Manage the budget for the athletic department, ensuring financial resources are allocated appropriately for equipment, uniforms, travel expenses, and other needs.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for fundraising and sponsorship to support the athletic programs.

  1. Compliance and Regulations:

  • Stay informed about and ensure compliance with relevant rules, regulations, and policies related to athletic programs and interscholastic sports.

  • Work closely with school administration to address any compliance issues and maintain a high standard of ethical conduct within the athletic department.

  1. Physical Education Teaching:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate physical education lessons for students.

  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to promote skill development and physical fitness.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages a lifelong interest in physical activity.

  1. Health and Safety:

  • Prioritize the health and safety of students participating in athletic programs, implementing and enforcing safety protocols.

  • Collaborate with medical professionals and trainers to address injuries and promote preventive measures.

  1. Community Engagement:

  • Cultivate positive relationships with parents, community members, and local organizations to enhance support for the athletic department.

  • Organize and promote community events, tournaments, and other activities to showcase the achievements of student-athletes.

  1. Professional Development:

  • Stay current with advancements in sport management, coaching techniques, and physical education pedagogy through ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Teaching certification in Physical Education

  • Previous experience in coaching or managing athletic programs

  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

  • Knowledge of relevant and regulations governing interscholastic sports

  • CPR and First Aid certification
