Accounts Payable Specialist

Reports To: Assistant Controller

FLSA Status: Full-time Non-Exempt

Department: Accounting / Finance

Job Summary: Work closely with Accounts Payable and Accounting Teams to keep standards of financial statements, reports, invoices, and client services. Will execute the necessary accounts payable work related to our monthly close, maintaining invoices are paid in an efficient and timely manner. The Accounts Payable Specialist will have daily, ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our valued partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows accounts payable workflows using accounting software and other programs
  • Handling accounts payable for separate entities and vendors
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors
  • Ensuring bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures
  • Perform multiple weekly batch check runs
  • Monitor multiple workflows/queues. Work through and respond to inquiries and resolve questions/issues
  • Other duties as assigned by Assistant Controller based on Accounting/Finance department initiatives and priorities

Qualifications:

  • Associates and/or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence working in an Accounts Payable or Accounting Position
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong technical proficiency with ability to learn and utilize new tools/technologies on the fly
  • Strong proficiency with Computerized Accounting Software (Sage 500 preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Self-starter with flexibility and willingness to balance multiple priorities
  • Desire and ability to gain an understanding of processes and learn on the fly
  • Experience in organizing, prioritizing and coordinating own work schedule
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and collaborative skills
  • People oriented who works well with a team
  • Strong customer service skills

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to be stationary for long periods of time and may spend long periods of time talking with customers. Several hours each day can be spent in front of a computer screen. The employee is occasionally required to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel and crouch. Close vision and fine motor skills for computer are needed.
