Director of Liturgy

St. Rose of Lima Parish in Gaithersburg Maryland is hiring a Director of Liturgy and Adult Faith Formation.
This is a full time role and will report to the Pastor.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position promotes a culture of welcome, evangelization and hospitality. The Director of Liturgy and Adult Faith Formation is responsible for collaborating with clergy, staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers to plan and execute parish liturgies that foster “full, conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations called for by the very nature of the liturgy” (Sacrosanctum Concilium #14). The Director of Adult Faith Formation is responsible for all catechetical programming for adults (ages 18 +) consistent with the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the National Directory for Catechesis. This includes coordination of all aspects of the RCIA. The Director of Liturgy and Adult Faith Formation reports directly to and is supervised by the Pastor.

Principal Duties: Liturgy

• Implements the celebration of Sunday and daily liturgies, observing feasts and seasons of the liturgical year.
• Coordinates and oversees all major celebrations (Sundays, major feasts, baptisms, funerals, weddings, penance services, prayer services, etc.) including planning, rehearsal/training, execution, and evaluation in conjunction with Pastor, Director of Music, other staff and lay leadership.
• Develops parish guidelines and policies for the celebration of sacraments in coordination with pastor and other staff members.
• Present at most weekend liturgies, including major liturgical rituals (i.e. Baptism, Rites of Initiation, Holy Week, Triduum, etc.)
• Assists/MCs at liturgical celebrations as necessary.
• Responsible for the recruitment, training and oversight of all liturgical ministers.
• Creates and maintains the parish liturgy calendar, including scheduling of guest presiders.
• Prepares documents for weekly and seasonal liturgies, including announcements, intercessions and scripts.
• Coordinates with the Archdiocese for special events, i.e. Cardinal’s and Bishops’ visits.
• Responsible for liturgical supplies.
• Oversees the liturgical environment.
• Oversees liturgy budget.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: ADULT FAITH FORMATION

• Oversee sacramental formation for marriage, adult confirmation and infant baptism in collaboration with Director of Liturgy and other staff members.
• Oversee English Adult RCIA program and collaborate with leadership of RCIT, RCIC, RICA.
• Visions, plans, implements and manages all aspects of adult faith formation opportunities, i.e., seasonal retreats, Small Faith groups, bible and doctrinal study, lectures, mornings of reflection.
• Oversees Newcomer’s process.
• Develops and implements support groups as needed, i.e. Bereavement.
• Maintains and procures seasonal and formational materials.
• Oversees operation of the parish library.
• Oversees Adult Faith Formation Budget

REQUIREMENTS
•A practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, with a passion for liturgy and catechesis •Bachelor’s Degree in Theology or Liturgy and a minimum of 5+ years of experience in all aspects of Liturgy •Experience with RCIA, including detailed knowledge of the process •Experience in group facilitation and/or teaching adults •Well-developed ability to fluctuate effectively between multiple platforms of engagement, including liturgical, ministerial, pastoral, executive •Strong organizational and collaborative skills •Available and willing to work nights and weekends •Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
