We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Billing Appeals Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for investigating and resolving billing disputes and appeals promptly and accurately. This role requires a strong understanding of billing processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of billing issues. Our team is committed to resolving billing issues efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and process billing appeals and disputes submitted by clients or insurance companies.
  • Investigate discrepancies and gather necessary information to support appeals.
  • Work closely with billing, collections, and customer service teams to resolve billing issues.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, insurance providers, and internal departments regarding appeal status and outcomes. Maintain detailed records of appeals, including documentation of communications and outcomes.
  • Identify trends in appeals and recommend process improvements to reduce future disputes.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices related to billing and appeals processes.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams as needed to escalate complex appeals.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in billing, accounts receivable, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and experience with billing software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP)
  • Knowledge of healthcare billing practices and insurance regulations preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Billing and Coding (e.g., CPB) is a plus
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Previous experience in handling medical billing appeals
