Production Associate
A production associate is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment within the production environment and preparing items for distribution. The job description of a production associate involves assembling and checking products, ensuring that all machinery runs smoothly, and assisting in the stocking or shipping of items in a timely manner.
Description
A production associate operates, maintains, and cleans production equipment, works in an assembly line-type atmosphere, puts together and inspects products, and adheres to all factory safety guidelines and standards.
Duties and responsibilities of a Production Associate
- Follows proper cleanliness and gowning procedures for a cleanroom environment
- Starts assembly and production machinery at the beginning of the shift
- Monitors equipment to ensure that products are being assembled properly
- Makes sure that the work area is clean and free of hazardous materials
- Addresses problems with production equipment and machinery, fixing them as needed
- Cleans equipment
- Assembles products by hand as needed
- Observes and remove faulty products from production
- Inspects assembled products to ensure they are up to quality standards
- Affixes labels and other exterior details to products
- Packs up completed products and prepares them for shipment when needed
- Keeps production floor clean
- Adheres to all safety guidelines concerning the product and handling of materials in the factory
- Ensures that all production deadlines are met
- Reports issues or problems with production to immediate supervisor
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrates ability to interpret equipment gauges and monitors on production equipment
- Is able to identify problems or malfunctions with machinery and equipment
- Demonstrates analytical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to troubleshoot production issues
- Pay close attention to detail
- Exhibits the ability to work cautiously but efficiently in potentially hazardous conditions
- Is familiar with all factory safety procedures and guidelines
- Works efficiently and manages time effectively
- Possesses physical strength and stamina required to stand, walk, and lift for long periods of time
- Possesses physical dexterity necessary to assemble and/or handle small items
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- Previous experience in a factory or assembly line environment is preferred, but not required
Work Environment
- A standard 40-hour workweek applies
- Working hours will be spent in production or warehouse
- Moderate to heavy physical activity such as walking and lifting is required on a daily basis
- Individuals may be required to handle or transport hazardous chemicals or fragile products
- Safety gear, such as goggles, lab coats, hairnets, and sometimes gloves are required
