The nurse practitioner is a licensed, independent health care provider who is responsible for managing heath issues and coordinating care in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and implementation of patient care.

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Functions independently to perform history and physical, including screening exams, for acute and chronically ill patients on an outpatient basis.
  • Working with employer groups to provide comprehensive health care to employees, their families, and co-workers/staff.
  • Performs physical examinations.
  • Diagnoses health conditions.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests (labs, x-rays, etc) appropriate to patient’s health care needs.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
  • Collaborates with staff and multidisciplinary team members to identify and implement patient plan of care needs.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Acts as a resource person for decision making, planning, and policies affecting the health and well-being of patients and staff.
  • Ability to detect changes in patient conditions, and need for referrals, transfers, etc to a higher-level of patient care if needed.
  • Administer necessary medications and perform trained medical procedures as deemed medically necessary (examples include, but not limited to, laceration repair, splinting/casting/orthopedic care, incision and drainage techniques, simply skin lesion removals, foreign body removals, cryotherapy).
  • Continually delivers high-quality patient/family care while maintaining company policies and safety regulations.
  • Must be willing to go on-site with employers and engage with the employees to promote health and wellness.

  • Passing a recertification exam every 10 years.

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an approved/accredited School of Nursing.
  • Successful completion of an approved/accredited Nurse Practitioner Program. Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure in Wisconsin. Current DEA Licensure State of Wisconsin.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
