Position Summary:

The Security and AV Technician will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining security systems and audio-visual equipment. The role requires a strong understanding of both low-voltage electrical systems and AV technology. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure security systems, including CCTV cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems.
  • Set up and integrate AV systems, such as projectors, sound systems, video conferencing equipment, and digital signage.
  • Run and terminate cabling for both security and AV systems, ensuring neat and organized installations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on security and AV systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose and repair issues with security and AV equipment, including hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Provide on-site support for system malfunctions and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Integrate security and AV systems with other networked systems, ensuring seamless operation.
  • Program and customize systems to meet the specific needs of clients.
  • Update firmware and software on security and AV devices as required.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their specific security and AV needs and provide solutions.
  • Conduct client training sessions on the use of installed systems.
  • Provide post-installation technical support and guidance to clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all installations comply with industry standards and local regulations.
  • Stay updated on the latest technology trends and advancements in security and AV systems.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, AVIXA, or security certifications) are a plus.
  • Proven experience in installing and maintaining security systems and AV equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, wiring, and cabling standards.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and IP-based systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces when necessary.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance-approved driving record. Maintain less than 3 points on fleet driving policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Security Systems (e.g., CCTV, Alarm systems).
  • Experience with Control4, and other AV control systems.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices related to security and AV systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, if necessary.
  • Travel to client sites as required.
  • Work may involve exposure to heights and the use of ladders or lifts.
