POSITION SUMMARY:

This position ensures that required materials needed for operations are purchased in a timely and efficient

manner while following the Envases Ohio purchasing workflow process. This position is responsible for

identifying the best solution for the materials needed taking into consideration; cost, time and delivery, and

quality when placing orders. The Buyer will be required to effectively communicate both internally and

externally.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

? Processes purchase requisitions; reviews purchase requisitions for appropriate specifications,

analyzes purchase requisitions and other purchase requests to determine method of procurement

? Identifies suppliers by researching materials, equipment, and supplies availability; evaluates

alternatives; verifying supplier performance record and certification, make recommendations for the

most effective method of procurement

? Reviews counts provided by the inventory team to manage inventory and make sure we have ample

supply. Establishes minimums and maximums for high-volume items.

? Manages inventory for inks, coatings, and ribbons for production operations to ensure proper levels

are maintained

? Creates purchase orders in SAP for internal approvals

? Sends purchase order to the vendor for processing after PO has been released in SAP with proper

approvals

? Obtains confirmation of order from the vendor and ensures order accuracy. Frequently follows up

with internal customers and vendors to monitor status of orders

? Ensures material, equipment, and supply availability by tracking and expediting delivery

? Checks in products once received by comparing purchase order to packing slip and physical item

received to ensure accuracy

? Disperses purchases to the party responsible for placing the order and turns the invoice into the

accounting team

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

? Some College/Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field required

? 2 year’s experience in purchasing of commodities, materials, equipment, and/or supplies on a large scale

? 3-5 years’ experience with specific knowledge of purchasing in an industrial or manufacturing

environment preferred

? Basic computer, math, and customer service skills required

? SAP experience strongly preferred

? Current and valid driver’s license required

GENERAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

? Excellent communication and negotiation skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other

employees and vendors/suppliers

? Strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited

periodically

? Knowledge of sources of supply, markets and price trends, and the various grades and qualities of a wide

variety of materials, supplies and equipment; technical understanding of company products, services, and

activities

? Proven propensity for documenting/tracking records and maintaining budget expenditures

? Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines

? High-level of comfort in working with numbers and spreadsheets; ability to reconcile financial records

? Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

? Travel required to regularly conduct business with and meet with vendors/suppliers

? Must be able to identify and execute improvement opportunities through both process improvements

and system improvements

? Strong understanding of supply chain systems, practices, processes, and procedures

? Must be a self-starter and have the desire and ability to take ownership and responsibility with little

direction

? Ability to be pragmatic in decision-making; requires high integrity

? Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra and statistics including add, subtract, multiply, divide, interest,

decimals and percentages

SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

? Intermediate level of knowledge in basic hardware and software using of a variety of different computer

operating systems such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Visio, Google Workspace,

Outlook/Gmail and web-site software required

function of this position; position may require travel to meetings, conferences, workshops or other facilities.
