Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAs a Buyer/Planner for Busek you will procure a mix of custom and commercial off the shelf parts as well as manufactured parts for spacecraft subsystems. You will carry out Procurement processes, standards, and operational plans, including RFPs, negotiation preparations, and cost analysis.
To be successful in this role you will have experience in activities associated with purchasing goods, materials, supplies, and services to ensure terms are in the organization's best interest.
Busek is an AS9100D certified company in which specific Aerospace manufacturing standards must be met.

Our present efforts span research/development to manufacturing of aerospace systems to low-volume production of high-reliable in-space components and subsystems. The company has several R&D labs (over 30K sq.ft.) including over 20 vacuum chambers from 9 feet in diameter to small desktop systems. Busek was founded over three decades ago and incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1985. Our facilities are in Natick MA, approximately 20 miles west of Boston.

Day to day activities:
  • Identify optimal placement of orders with preferred vendors
  • Negotiate pricing and timely delivery of component parts
  • Prepare purchase orders, including verifying approval and scheduling deliveries
  • Work closely with suppliers to assure on-time and on-quality delivery
  • Respond to value stream inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Track and monitor purchase orders, keeping internal users (customers) informed of problems/delays. Communicate any impacts/constraints to appropriate department.
  • Maintain digital or hard copy procurement records as needed, such as items, purchases, costs, delivery, product quality or performance and inventories.
Skills Desired
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members and suppliers
  • Negotiation skills to work with suppliers and make better deals for the company
  • An understanding of purchase order software platforms
  • IT skills to troubleshoot essential computer programs
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (blueprint) and carry out instructions in written, oral and diagram form.
