B&C Enterprises Inc. is seeking a Pre-Engineered Steel Erector to join its team in Elgin, IL (Chicago NW suburb).

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who have 3+ years of experience in steel work to come join our team assembling pre-engineered steel buildings in Northern Il and Southern WI. If this is you, come and join our team where you will work alongside our other tradesmen.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Read project plans, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp the requirements

  • Fabricates metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, and girders

  • Unload and positions prefabricated steel units for hoisting as needed

  • Hoist steel beams, girders, or columns into place, using cranes or signaling hoisting equipment operators to lift and position structural steel members

  • Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment

  • Aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent bolting or welding

  • Sheet walls and roofs with metal or metal insulated panels

  • Dismantle structures or equipment

  • Takes personal responsibility for fostering a safe workplace by following safety policies

  • Safely operate scissor lifts, boom lifts and telehandlers

  • Perform maintenance and repairs to existing steel frames and structures

  • Maintain a clean job site (clean up)

Requirements

  • Report to work on time and be ready to work at scheduled time

  • Regular attendance of 8-10 hour day shifts Monday-Friday

  • Knowledge and understanding of steel structures and assembly of metal buildings

  • Knowledge and proficient use of scissor lifts, boom lifts and telehandlers

  • Knowledge and proficient use of rigging and lifting of materials

  • Knowledge and understanding of construction risks and how to mitigate them

  • Must possess the ability to read, interpret, and work from project plans and specifications

  • Must be self-motivated and have a desire for continued learning and personal growth

  • Must be highly detailed with excellent organization skills

  • Must have the ability to think critically, innovate, and solve challenging technical problems

  • Must possess a positive attitude towards project challenges

  • Must have effective time management and logical decision-making ability

  • Must possess a strong work ethic, the ability to handle pressure, and meet deadlines

  • Must possess physical, mental and emotional fitness

  • Must have the ability to identify and mitigate safety hazards

  • Must be able to work as a team and be a team leader

  • OSHA 10-hour card preferred
