Rigger

Starting Wage: $19.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Signal or verbally communicate with other workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, to ensure safety of workers and products.
• Assist with testing rigging to ensure safety and reliability.
• Select gear such as slings, shackles, chokers and winches, according to load weights and size, facilities, and work schedule.
• Guide movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces.
• Tilt, dip and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under and or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques.
• Manipulate rigging lines, hoist and pulling gear to move or support materials and or heavy equipment.
• Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as hollow core slab etc.
• Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
• Read piece drawing/plans and conduct a full layout of baselines and machinery positions.

KNOWLEDGE, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of loading a trailer in a safe condition.
• Understand weights of equipment and rigging tools is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. as needed.
• Must be able to go up and down on ladder, steps or other lift as needed.
• Must be able to work in outdoor weather and or unregulated temperatures for 10-12 hours/day.

Ability to:

• Interpersonal skills, time management, communication skills and confidence.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
