Service/Labor Janitor

Role and Responsibility Summary:
Janitorial and custodial cleaning
Reports to: shift supervisor
Typical duties:
- Perform cleaning/maintenance of floors, common public areas, bathrooms, windows.
- Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
- Utilize the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
- Use and maintain equipment properly.
- Operate and maintain all equipment correctly and safely
- Observe safety precautions at all times, uses safety signs “wet floor”
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Reports safety hazards as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Professional Requirements: Minimum Qualifications (Education/Experience):
Required – High School Diploma
Preferred – One year of Janitor/Custodian or janitorial/custodian experience.
Preferred – One year of experience operating floor care or motorized equipment.
Listening skills – strong active listening skills help Janitors follow instructions clearly and understand what is required of them before beginning a task.
Attention to detail – Janitors ensure that the area they are managing is cleaned thoroughly, so attention to detail is a key aspect of the role
- Time management – this job requires the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and to set schedules, so applicants need good time management skills
- Physical stamina – Janitors spend most of their workday on their feet, operating cleaning equipment so good physical strength and stamina is a must
- Mechanical skills – this job involves using, driving and charging floor cleaning equipment and tools, so applicants must be familiar with mechanical equipment

Physical Requirements:
Employees may experience the following physical demands during their work shift;
Standing and/or walking (75 – 80%)
Bending, kneeling, squatting, and/or stooping.
Pulling or Pushing Carts or Flatbeds.
Exposure to wind, rain, cold, and heat
