Opportunity Overview

SD Solutions is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Research Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in advanced scientific research, engineering principles, and technology development. The Research Scientist will play a critical role in driving this mission forward. The successful applicant will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to conduct rigorous research and develop cutting-edge solutions that address complex health challenges faced by our nation.


The Research Scientist will participate in research projects that align with ARPA-H's strategic objectives. This may include designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and interpreting results. The individual will also engage with multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, academic institutions, and private industry partners, to foster collaborative research environments. Moreover, the Research Scientist will prepare technical reports, scientific publications, and presentations to communicate findings and insights both internally and externally.


Candidates must demonstrate substantial expertise in their respective fields. Additional experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, biomedical engineering, and cybersecurity is a plus. A deep understanding of theoretical principles and practical applications in cutting-edge technologies is essential.

These opportunities will advance high-potential, high-impact biomedical and health research that cannot be readily accomplished through traditional research or commercial activity. With a scope spanning the molecular to the societal, these programs have the potential to radically improve everyone's health." Responsibilities Include

  • Provide technical support to an ARPA-H Program Manager by serving as scientific and technical advisors for cutting-edge research projects.
  • Support program managers in the development of new research programs, methods, concepts, and operational processes.
  • Focus on therapy recommendation techniques, including multi-modal data fusion, resistant trait modeling, and development of biomarkers to predict drug response.
  • Focus on a new evolutionary clinical trial that treats patients during multiple therapy lines by discovering emergent resistant traits and therapy biomarkers.
  • Unite researchers and clinicians through the creation of a cancer treatment and analysis platform to enable real-time data availability.
  • Support ARPA-H scientists utilizing your field(s) of expertise, knowledge of emerging technologies in this field(s), and your abilities to analyze and solve problems.
  • Provide strategic assessments of methods and technologies related to the development of technologies and devices.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of scientists, engineers, and clinicians to translate research discoveries into real-world applications.
  • Prepare briefings and other documents to include strategic messaging in support of an ARPA-H Program Manager and the transformative programs being supported.

Requirements Overview

  • PhD in Biophysics, Oncological Sciences or related scientific field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in precision medicine or genomics is required.
  • Background in gene expression.
  • Experience with drug resistant tumors/other rare disease research.
  • Mental health treatment.
  • Strategy development and health policy research.
  • Experienced planning and developing complex R&D projects of a research and development nature.
  • Skilled in conceiving, planning, and conducting research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity requiring unconventional or novel approaches and sophisticated research techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct appropriate analyses designed to offer recommendations, solutions, and alternatives to resolve R&D issues, concerns, problems, or methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in advanced techniques, theories, precepts, and practices required in the field/disciplines to which you are providing expertise.
  • Experience with testing and diagnostics in the technical and regulatory space.
