Barrel Hand

We are looking to hire a Barrel Hand for our Lux Row Distillery in Bardstown, KY. Under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor, this position is responsible for receiving, filling, placement of barrels in warehouse and performing inspections and minor coopering of barrels.
What will you do?
Warehouse
- Be able to fill barrels from process tanks, dump aged barrels for tanker load-out, reduce process tanks down to desired proof, roll barrels onto dump trough for emptying product, and perform minor coopering of barrels when necessary.
- Be able to manually handle moving 500 lb. barrels of spirits into and out of warehouses.
Inventory/Operation Support
- Be able to complete barrel inventory and audit sheets daily, place newly filled barrels in warehouse ricks using ricker and maintain good housekeeping in process room and warehouse.
- Be able to head-up barrels (stand on end) in trucks for transport to warehouse/off-site location using a grasshopper and drive a 53-foot spot truck and trailer to and from warehouses.
- Physical requirements include regular standing, using hand and arms to reach, handle and feel objects or tools. Employees are frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, occasionally required to climb or balance. Employee must be able to physically navigate the plant environment, including the repetitive climbing of stairs and elevated walkways up to six stories high.
- Comply with all necessary Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Safety requirements and other duties assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor or Distillery Operation Manager.
What do you need to bring to the table?
- A minimum of two years relevant experience.
- A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Physical demands requiring lifting of 50 pounds or more at times and moving 500 pound barrels.
- Possessing a CDL is preferred.
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
