ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – CREW LEAD:

  • Act as a supervisor for greenhouse and packinghouse staff. Direct work efforts of staff in cooperation with Head and Assistant Head Grower.
  • Become familiar with all aspects of greenhouse operations, including but not limited to, crop care, harvest/picking, and packinghouse processes
  • Act as subject matter expert and point person for the execution of the Bushel Boy Food Safety program.
  • Oversee staff in a manner which ensures worker safety.
  • Foster a positive work environment that leads to worker satisfaction, strong productivity and low turnover

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – GREENHOUSE TECHNICIAN:

  • Crop registration (yields, plant characteristics, other analytics specific to crop)
  • Production Forecasting
  • Oversight, recording of relevant data and ROI/feasibility analysis of technology and varietal trials
  • Familiarity with agricultural and growing processes for all varieties of tomatoes and strawberries
  • Familiarity with technology platform (PRIVA)


MINIMUM EDUCATION & WORK REQUIREMENTS:

  • The position is hourly, 5-day standard workweek with 8.5-hour days (including lunch break). TBD start time (likely between 6:00 am and 7:00 am).
  • Shifts are primarily Monday through Saturday, though additional paid night and weekend coverage may be required.
  • Workweek is 40 hours, with overtime pay at 1.5 times standard rate for all hours in excess of 40.
  • Standard hourly benefits package, including vacation.
  • Knowledge of horticulture, greenhouse environment, and growing operations. Experience in growing tomatoes highly desired but not required.
  • Knowledge of pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers, and plant biology.
  • Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) operations and licensed in application.
  • Business acumen and previous supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated skill and proficiency with Windows-based computer applications and other industry-related software, and office and plant equipment.
  • Uses independent judgment to make decisions, and to recommend and/or implement solutions.
  • Strong self-starter, willing to show initiative and solve problems independently. Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently and diplomatically, orally and in writing in the English language. Spanish language skills highly desired.
  • Ability to maintain excellent interpersonal and cooperative relationships while participating in sectional and cross-functional groups and teams involving management, staff, and clients.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with all legal requirements related to job discrimination, hiring practices, harassment etc.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and accurately follow through on work activities with time constraints and interruptions to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity and confidentiality.

  • Regularly required to stand and walk.

  • Occasionally required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
  • Can be exposed to extreme heat and humidity in temperatures up to 100&degree;F or 38&degree; C.
