This 11-month onsite contract position in Chicago, IL provides the chance to lead Power BI implementations and contribute to complex data migration projects. Position Details:• Job Title: Power BI Developer• Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite)• Duration: 11 months• Rate: $45-$50 per hour• Experience: 5-10 years• Job Category: Information Technology (IT)• Sub Category: Software Development, Systems Administration and Networking, Data Analysis and Business Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Information Security, IT Support and Help Desk, Web Development and Design, Database Administration, Cloud Computing and DevOps, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, IT Project Management/Business Analyst/QA
Key Responsibilities:• Collaborate closely with customers to understand their requirements and convert them into effective solutions.• Lead and guide the development team, ensuring successful implementation of Power BI projects.• Provide expertise in Paginated Reports and resolve Power BI issues as they arise.• Design end-to-end solution architecture and guide development teams on complex requirements.• Participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives and actively respond to customer needs.• Maintain project and object-level security, ensuring compliance with project requirements.• Implement change management processes for Power BI project migrations between QA, UAT, and Production environments.• Work closely with report domain architects to suggest improvements in configuration, processes, and supportability.• Maintain scripts, documentation, data recovery, and backup procedures related to the Power BI product suite.
Required Skills and Experience:• Strong experience in Power BI implementation, development, enhancement, and migration.• Proficient in Power BI development, including experience in Azure environments.• Experience in creating reports, dashboards, and visualizations in Power BI.• Competent in Power BI Desktop, Gateway, Service, and Report Server.• Experienced in Paginated Reports using Report Builder, and migrating SSRS/Tabular reports to Power BI Paginated Reports.• Skilled in Power Query M and DAX queries, with experience in static and dynamic Row Level Security.• Solid understanding of relational database structures, SQL reporting, and custom dataset creation.
Preferred Qualifications:• Experience with 1-2 large-scale enterprise-level Power BI implementations.• Experience in building a Center of Excellence (COE) approach for Power BI.• Integration experience with R or Python is a plus.• Experience in modernizing legacy reports from Excel or Tableau to Power BI.• Certified Power BI Developer with experience in migration, upgrade, and Power BI Cluster Management and Performance Tuning.
